Ricky Martin kicked off his new Musica+Alma+Sexo World Tour in his homeland of Puerto Rico this past Friday. Rocking a new mohawk, Ricky unveiled his new leather daddy look on stage and once again proves that he can still shake his “bom-bom”. Here is a clip of the opening act as Ricky shows off his new look and gets the crowd going with “Sera, Sera.” Thank you PrimeraHora.com for this great video!
Ricky stepped up to the plate and demonstrated all the hard work and dedication he has been putting into the rehearsals. Ricky sported many different looks, all designed by the one and only Giorgio Armani. Mr. Armani not only dressed Ricky but also his band members, dancers and backup singers for the much anticipated world tour. We definitely see a new, free, happy, and in control Ricky Martin as he embarks in his adventure. This concert has a little bit of everything including lots of leather and even whips! Even though this sounds a bit erotic it was very well received by the audience who screamed, applauded and danced from beginning to end. We have to remember that this is the way that Ricky Martin decided to express his personal experiences with his audience. He feels this is the perfect time to share freely with his fans not only his sexuality but his happiness and freedom.
According to an article on PrimeraHora.com his concert is divided into different sections all representing a moment or stage in his life. The show opens with a nude video of Ricky Martin in which he is chained up and this represents the repression he felt as he was in total silence about his sexuality for many years. Ricky then made his appearance on stage with his new song “Sera, Sera”, which brought the audience to their feet. After he sang the song this is what he had to say to his fans “Puerto Rico, don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid to live Puerto Rico. I am going to have a great time, what about you? I am happy! Are you going to sing along tonight? What do you think if we get this show started? And he went on to sing the first ballad of the night, Vuelve (Come Back). Ricky used the transitions of each section to tell a little bit of his history. Then came the cabaret section of the show in which he danced his heart out, as only Ricky can do it, in his unique style. He sang “She Bangs”, “Shake your bom bom”, and “Loaded”, together with his eight dancers. Then he sang my favorite song of the cd, “Basta Ya” (Enough Already) and closed the second section of his show. This song totally describes in detail the new era in Ricky’s life.
The third section was the most romantic one but nevertheless incorporated the party ambience with afro-Caribbean rhythms. Ricky has a total of 4 performances in Puerto Rico before he begins his tour throughout the US. The more I blog about this fabulous tour the more excited I get about actually going to this concert. I am counting the days until April 15th because I know that this will be a night to remember!

Peace and Love ;-) Candela
