Shalim Gerado Ortiz Goyco was born on February 26, 1979 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is a singer/actor, and son of the famous Charytin Goyco, and Don Elin Ortiz.

At the age of 7, Shalim began acting. He starred in a children's comedy called Los Angelitos. (The Little Angels).

Shalim, and his family moved to Miami, and he tried modeling.

Eventually, famous music producer, Emilio Estefan signed Shalim. Shalim also contacted the William Morris Agency, and Sony Music. He released three albums.

In 2001, Shalim released his first self titled album.

In 2002, he released another self titled album, and was in an episode of an American show called The Lizzy McGuire Show, as well as S club 7, and  Hollywood 7.

In 2003, he released Cuartro Sin Puerta, with the very popular single, "Se Me Olvido Tu Nombre".

In 2007, Shalim starred in a Web series  called Engaged. He was also on the show called Heros.

He guest starred in 2008 as a singer on Cory in the House.

In 2009, Shalim was in the Hallmark Channel movie, Expecting a Miracle.

He has been on both Cold Case, and CSI Miami.

Also in 2009, Shalim was in a miniseries for Lifetime TV called Man-eater.

In 2012, Shalim joined the cast if Una Maid en Manhattan that aired on NBC's Telemundo.
