Alejandro Sanz y Alex Cuba 360 grados de Latin
Alejandro Sanz And Alex Cuba 360 Degrees of Latin
Alex Cuba October 2, 2012 Ruido en el Systema
In the past few months I have been getting my groove on to some of the hottest Latin music that I've heard since the release of "Solas Con Chayanne".
Alejandro Sanz has long been a favorite of mine and a constant staple in my playlist rotation. Over the last year Alex cuba has joined the ranks of Pandora's favorites. Both albums are a sweet pleasure to all the senses. Put them together and there is no style, no flavor that isn't touched.
Alejandro Sanz released La Musica No Se Toca on September 25, 2012. This is his 9th studio album, his first in three years, and he never ceases to amaze me. Just when you think you've heard it all, he reaches deep inside of himself and releases more of himself.
La Musica No se toca has 14 tracks including a bonus track that knocked me off my chair! It's called Down, featuring none other than rapper Fat Jo. My favorites off the album are, La Musica No Se Toca, Se Vende, Camino a Casa, Para Decirle Adios, which has the most beautiful sting orchestrations, and Down, featuring Fat Jo.
1. La Musica No Se Toca
What can I say about Alex Cuba other than the obvious? Pandora's Caja had the great pleasure of interviewing Alex a few months ago (Alex Cuba, Sin Definicion) in anticipation of his 5th studio album Ruido en el Systema. Alex is an artist that by his inherent artistic nature cannot be labeled. Yes, he's Latin, yes he sings in Spanish, but he also sings in English, and his music is as multifaceted and colorful as a kaleidoscope. What ever your flavor, you'll find on this album. From ballads, to pop, to rock, it's all here...and it's flawless.
My picks for this album? Suspiro en Falsete, Nadie Como Tu (Featuring Nelly Furtado), Lo Mejor para Mi, Are You, and my top pick for the album is Creo.
Ruido en el Systema has 14 tracks, and non of them will leave you wanting:
Alex is currently in the midst of a non-stop tour in Canada and the US. The tour dates for November are as follows:

"No Me Compares" nuevo sencillo de Alejandro Sanz
Aquí está el vídeo que aparece en Youtube/Vevo. Personalmente amo el vídeo pero sobre todo estoy enamorada de la canción. Miren lo que dice el coro y les prometo que voy a poner la letra completa en la seccion de musica Bariloche's Music Box aqui en la Caja de Pandora.
Vengo del aire,
Que te sacaba a ti la piel mi amor
Yo soy la calle,
Donde te lo encontraste a el
No me compares,
Baje a la tierra en un pincel por ti
Imperdonable,
"No Me Compares" Alejandro Sanz new single
His last cd, Paradise Express (2009) was an international success and won a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album, a Latin Grammy for Best Male Vocal and a Billboard award in the category of Hot Latin song for "Looking for Paradise" which he sings with Alicia Keys.
Here is the video that Alejandro posted on Youtube/Vevo...I personally love the video but most of all I totally love the song. Here is what the chorus says and I will be posting the entire song under our music and lyrics section "Bariloche's Music Box".
I come from the air that dried your skin my love
I am the street where you ran into him
Do not compare me
I came to earth on a paintbrush for you
Unforgivable
That I am nothing like him or anyone else.

Rain and Good Music Go Hand In Hand
I don't really know what it is about gray rainy days that make you just want to curl up with a rally warm blanket, pour yourself a cup of your favorite war, beverage, turn on your favorite tunes and just contemplate life....to let your mind just wander.
For some reason, day like that make you want to slow things down a bit...life can at times be like a runaway train and we're just doing our best to hang on...... For today, I decided to leave you with two of my faves and a newbie. Chayanne (of course). Alejandro Sanz, and newbie Alex Cuba.
as rain drops
beat out their rhythms
on my bedroom window panes.
I have heard that beat before
under tin roofs
in faraway jungles,
where lonesome young warriors,
not understanding
the rhythms of the rain,
nor life,
cried to that beat
of that falling rain.
Now, that I am laying here
next to you,
I have no fears.
No anger.
No worries about bombs
or tomorrows.
I have learned to love
that rhythm of the rain.
I have learned to love you.
I have learned to love me.
So, I am satisfied
just sleeping here with you,
while listening to the falling rain
and the beating of your heart.
I have learned to love both.
as if somehow,
they were only one,
and not separate hearts."
~ Peace

Alejandro Sanz Singing for the World
It seems that every day there is another tragedy that has beset yet another group of people on our planet...it can become over whelming at times, but always lifts my heart is knowing that there are so many people that will do whatever they can to help, and Alejandro Sanz is one of them. This isn't the first article that I've written about him and all that he does from people in need and I'm sure that it won't be the last.
Alejandro, who very recently switched labels from Warner Music to Universal, for reasons that as far as I can tell are his own, is working on an album in conjunction with other music artist and Dr.'s Without Borders, is now working on an album to benefit Cuban exiles.
Here is an an article from the Catholic New Agency
"Havana, Cuba, Mar 10, 2011 / 01:58 pm (CNA).- Thirty Spanish and Cuban singers including Gloria Estefan, Alejandro Sanz, Ricardo Montaner and Willy Chirino, have released a new album to raise funds for the International Committee in Support of the Varela Project.
The CD, titled “Un disco muy especial” (A Very Special CD), was presented in Madrid at the offices of the Society for Performing Artists of Spain.
Oscar Gomez, a writer, composer and the producer of the CD, said it was the first time Cuban artists “who throughout several decades have developed their talents with great success outside Cuba” have joined together “for a humanitarian cause” with “artists who are residents but also dissidents of the totalitarian government.”
The CD includes the song, “Todos Cubanos” (We Are All Cubans), written by Oswaldo Paya Sardinas, coordinator of the Christian Liberation Movement and the leader of the Varela Project. The initiative seeks a peaceful transition to democracy for Cuba.
Paya has been nominated to receive the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize.
Regis Iglesias, one of the former political prisoners exiled to Spain, expressed gratitude for the aid from the project. In all of the years of the Communist regime, he said, the people of Cuba have never lost “that free spirit.”
Since July 2010, the Cuban government has released 85 prisoners of conscience and sent them directly to Spain."
It can be so easy to get caught up in our day to day, forgetting that some where in the world there is someone that needs...........It's not always easy to give of ourselves as people who have the comfort of anonymity. It must be even more difficult to do these things when the whole world is watching.
I admire people like Alejandro and Chayanne that continually give of themselves......Alejandro is not just singing for himself, he's singing for the world. Bravo Alejandro, bravo....be blessed and God's speed.
~Peace

The 2011 Grammy Awards..What a Night!
What better way to start the show than with that amazing tribute to Aretha Franklin, "The Queen Of Soul". As many of you may or may not know, Aretha, has been sick over the past year and could not be present at the Grammys this year, but she sent a video, to express her thanks and gratitude for all of the well wishes and prayers that she's received from her fellow artists and her fans.

Then of course there was that incredible performance by Bruno Mars! He did a 50's, 60's style rendition of his hit song "Grenade" complete with black and white film footage! He's such a multi talent! Bruno also performed a trio with B.o.B. and Janelle Monet. Congrats to Bruno for coming away with a Grammy for Male Pop Vocal Performance: "Just The Way You Are".

| Bruno Mars in rehearsals for his big Grammy performance |
Another highlight of the show for me was Esperanza Spalding and her win for Best New Artist (I like Justin and all, but come on!) Esperanza is an incredibly gifted young lady who's been working her butt off to hone her craft since the age of four! Well done!
Ahhhh and who could get past Jusin Bieber's performance with Jaden Smith!! Will and Jada had me smiling from ear to ear! they were your typical proud and supportive parents! I Loved it!!
And can we talk about Eminem!!! I know...his language can get a little rated R, but his performance was awesome! Eminem was the hard core Grammy favorite with 10 nominations. He didn't score all 10, but he did come away with " Best Rap Album", and "Best Rap Solo Performance".
So we've covered what I liked about the 2011 Grammy's.....now for what I didn't like.....
How could Sade not win the one Grammy that she was nominated for, "Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals".....this is Sade we're talking about people! don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the winner's, "Train"...but Sade god ripped off! but She did win for "Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals"....I would love to post a video of here acceptance accept for the fact that they didn't televise that category.
The second thing that I didn't like was that so many of the other categories weren't even televised! They didn't even have any of the major Latin Artist nominees perform! Pete's sake, I would have rather watched Alejandro Sanz perform with Alicia Keys that watch Lady Gaga any day!
(Oh by the way if you want to try and find the winners of the Latin Categories on the official Grammy list of nominees and winners, you'll have to scroll all the way down to number 57...but at least Alejandro wasn't number 109. That honor was saved for "Best Long Form Music Video" Zzzzzzzzz)
Well...with the Grammy's over and done, we're on to the Premio Lo Nuestro.....then we'll be able to get our Latin Groove On!! ESSSSSSSO!

Shakira and Alejandro Sanz, Una Memoria Sensual
The duet is a song titled, "La Tortura" (Torture) The lyrics are no different than many romantic duets...but the video on the other hand puts an entirely different spin on things. In my opinion Shakira is one of the few female artists out there that could coax Alejandro into giving us a glimpse of his, "hidden sensualidad". It indeed is a pleasant surprise. It made me wonder....as steamy as Shakira can be if there was one Latin male artist that could be a match for her and maybe even help her find new heights of "sexy".....there can be only one answer to that question...*WINK*.....anyway I digress.
I think it only apropos that since both Shakira has been nominated for a Premio Lo Nuestro Award and Alejandro Sanz has been nominated for both a Premio Lo Nuestro and a Grammy Award, that we take a quick look back at this incredible duet.
"The music video for "La Tortura", directed by Michael Haussman, has a simple plot: from his new girlfriend's apartment, Sanz spies on Shakira as she is walking down the street holding a bag of onions on her way to her own apartment, which is on the other side of the street from Sanz' girlfriend's apartment. When Shakira enters her apartment, she changes clothes. From that moment on, Sanz remembers things the two had done in the past as a couple, while Shakira reveals her alter-ego dancing erotically on the building's roof, covered with black paint. The choreography of the music video was made by Jamie King and Shakira herself.
The music video is in itself somewhat notable, as it was the first time MTV showed a whole episode of their Making the Video series in another language (with English subtitles). It was also the second Spanish-language video ever to enter in Total Request Live's countdown, and peaked at number four on the countdown. It can also be noted that the video for "La Tortura" was one of the first in the Spanish-language to get heavy rotation on mainstream American and Canadian music channels such as MTV, VH1 and MuchMusic as in all almost over world Yahoo! sites. The remix version of the song, known as "La Tortura (Shaketon Remix)", has it own video (also directed by Haussman) featuring some previously unseen scenes. This video can be seen on Oral Fixation Volumes 1 & 2 Bonus DVD."
So with that...slide back to the year 2005 and experience a very enjoyable "La Tortura".....
